CHOCOLATE SLICE

PREPARATION BASE 10 MINS, ICING 10 MINS • COOKING TIME 15 MINS • MAKES APPROX 24 SLICES
- 200g butter
- ¼ cup Rice Malt Syrup (RMS)
- 1 ½ cups plain flour
- ½ cup dextrose
- 2 tablespoons cacao/cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ cup dextrose
- 1 tablespoon Rice Malt Syrup (RMS)
- 2 tablespoons cacao/cocoa powder, sifted
- 40g butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Preheat the oven to 170°C. Line a slice tin or use a silicone slice pan.
- Gently melt butter and RMS together over low heat, then remove from heat.
- Sift flour, dextrose, cacao powder and baking powder into a large bowl. Stir until combined.
- Add melted butter/RMS mixture and mix thoroughly.
- Press mixture into tin and bake for 15 minutes. When cooked, remove from oven and allow the base to cool for 5 minutes before spreading the icing onto it.
- While the base is cooking, make the icing by placing all of the icing ingredients into a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until butter has melted and ingredients are well combined.
- When base has cooled for 5 minutes, pour the warm icing over base and spread to cover. Allow to cool, then remove from tin and cut into 24 pieces.

Hi,
I made this slice yesterday arvo and it was a winner! (all capitals). All four of my kids thought it was great ( That’s like the holy grail, all of them liking the same thing!!) The only problem is…can’t stop at one piece!!
Haha, I have the same problem with finding something that all three of my kids like too!! Glad it was a winner for you 🙂
